About Us

Having married in June 1970 John Baker & his wife Brenda joined the family poultry business only to see foul pest wipe it out almost straight away. An alternative career path was required. It was decided that to sell a few plants from a roadside stall might be a nice idea. From this unassuming beginning, slowly but steadily, over the years our Garden Centre has grown.

Today the Garden Centre is still very much run by the Baker family, with the next generation in John & Brenda's three sons Stephen, Michael & Robert (see picture below) very much to the fore.

We hope that we have now reached a stage where we are able to maintain the benefits of a family - run independent business, many of our customers have been coming in for years and are known to us well. We pride ourselves on the friendly expert advice we are able to offer. But at the same time we are large enough to be able to stock what we believe to be the best range of plants in the area. We also have a large licensed restaurant, a garden & conservatory furniture showroom and a gift area.
